How does fall detection work?

Fall detection is a safety feature that can send for help if you have a fall, even if you can't press the button yourself. Here's how it works.

  1. Your watch's sensors can tell the difference between everyday movements and a hard fall.
  2. If it detects a fall, it checks whether you're moving.
  3. If you don't respond after a short moment, it [sounds an alert and contacts your Care Circle or our monitoring team].
  4. Help is then arranged, just as it would be with the SOS button.

If it's a false alarm, for example you knocked your wrist, you can cancel the alert on your watch, and no one will be contacted. See our guide on false fall alerts.

Important to know: fall detection is a helpful safety net, but no system can catch every fall. Always call [999 / your local emergency number] directly if you can in a serious emergency. To use it, keep your watch charged and worn snugly, and turn it on, see our guide on setting up fall detection.
